WORKSHOP AT THE BAY MODEL

Our guest speakers came all the way from MYSTIC SEAPORT, Conneticut. Mystic Seaport is a beautiful example of what is possible when everyone works together. They began their venture with a donation of two achres of land and a vision "to create a dynamic, educational institution to preserve America’s maritime culture – and turn the achievements of a past era into an inspirational force for the future." Seventy -five years later Mystic Seaport is America's most successful maritime museum and educaitonal center.(http://www.mysticseaport.org) Our speaker gave us an idea of what it takes to create a lasting and viable maritime project of this scope. Sausalito's own PHIL FRANK presented an historical overview of the Sausalito waterfront and a panel of RBMA representatives were on hand to answer questions and encourage a free exchange of ideas..

COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

Our first workshop spauned a number of other "mini-workshops" within our community . We have met with civic leaders, land owners and shipwrights who offer insights and ideas to further our cause. The RBMA is open to working with anyone whose purpose and goals are aligned with ours. Like to participate? ON-LINE SURVEY.

Sausalito's historic Marinship zoning plan is currently up for review. The RBMA wants the zoning in the Marinship to keep it's maritime focus in a way that will revitalize and preserve our working waterfront and wooden boat building heritage. To this end the RBMA hosted a Working Waterfront Workshop and initiated a conversation within the maritime community.
